Global terror - or a technicolor trick?
I caution people not to become swept up in the hysterical politicking and media hype over "foiled" airline terror plans this week.
Watch the film "Wag The Dog". If you haven't seen this - or at least read up on Nazi spin-doctor Goebbels - then you cannot possibly understand the depth and breadth of political propaganda.
I'm not on the inside track. I don't have contacts inside the White House or Downing Street. I certainly don't do enough research about these events and their place in the grand politico-economic scheme of things. But I'm observant enough to know that things are not always as they seem.
Question everything. Think twice. Consider an opposing viewpoint. Avoid stereotypes. Believe that bad guys masquerade as good guys.
Consider this idea and how you would implement it if you were President :
Problem-Reaction-Solution.

No Education for the Cocoa Generation
Beth Cooper
Recent brouhaha over police and teachers caught with fake degrees has exposed the ugly underbelly of education – its leviathan influence over anyone, anywhere, who needs a job.

Tsotsi
What makes this moody, moving feature film a keeper? Apart from its pound sterling status as Academy Award winner for best foreign language film, Tsotsi is a South African product that doesn't hitch a ride on the back of the country's troubled - but trendy - political past.
A film about young adulthood, urban decay, moral corruption and redemption, this cinematographic gem is a good yarn. Great storytellers thread their tales with universal themes such as love, hate, war, poverty, ambition and greed. Their success lies not in a blinkered, narrow view of one society and its citizens, but rather in the ability to tell a story that you and I can identify with, no matter who we are or where we were born.
That's why Tsotsi is relevant. It's not trying to be a Great South African Story. It's just being what it is - a Great Story.
